There’s a Snowy Catskills Winter Coming!
The word is that after the-winter-that-wasn’t last year, the 2016-17 winter season is going to be a snow-laden-doozy! So say the forecasters…there’s a snowy catskills winter coming!
The Science Guys Say…
It will feel like an extended winter for those living from the northern Plains to the eastern U.S., as cold and snowy conditions stretch into spring 2017.
Frequent storms across the northeastern U.S. this winter may lead to an above-normal season for snowfall.
“I think the Northeast is going to see more than just a few, maybe several, systems in the course of the season,” AccuWeather Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok said.
Unlike last season, in which most of winter’s snowfall came from a few heavy-hitting storms, this winter will last into the early or middle part of spring and will feature frequent snow events.
The Old-Timers Say…
And the Farmer’s Almanac agrees!
While last winter was a reprieve from shoveling and high fuel bills, the party is over. According to the 2017 Farmers’ Almanac, “winter is back!”
Yippee! The Catskills are beyond beautiful when it’s snowy and are filled with snow-packed adventures. Downhill skiing, snowboard, snow tubing, cross country skiing , ice climbing, snowshoeing, sledding… Not to mention building snow men and whipping some serious snowballs at your unsuspecting tribe. And if that all far too enthusiastic, porch sitting with buffalo check plaid blankets and hot spiced rum (or cocoa, if you insist!) watching those snow flakes come down works just as well… As does sitting in front of the fire, or napping on the couch.
Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow!
